The Sandhills community, located in Moore County has a population of approximately 70,000 people. Located only 70 miles from the Raleigh Durham Airport, this area serves as the center of the circle that boasts the Triangle area of Chapel Hill, Durham & Raleigh to its north; the N.C. beaches to its east and the Queen City of Charlotte to its west. The mountain regions of Asheville are only a 3  hour drive from Pinehurst.

Sandhills Community College is attended by over 10,000 residents each year. The school offers a 2-year Associate degree and offers Adult Classes year round. You will find over 25 colleges & universities within a 90-mile radius of the Sandhills, including Duke University, University of North Carolina, Wake Forest, & North Carolina State. Private Schools in the area of K thru 12 includes Emmanuel Episcopal Day School and the Calvary Christian School. The O'Neal School is an independent private school from K-12 and boasts of an almost 100% college placement history year after year. These schools have become an integral part of the community and the community has become an integral part of their mission. Our Moore County Public School System engages over 11,000 students and 1200 employees. Twenty-two schools from elementary to middle to high school offer the children of Moore County a diversified & fulfilling educational experience. LEISURE & RECREATION
From Golf to Tennis, from Boating to Horse Country, or Bicycling to Hiking, there isn't an outdoor activity that isn't at your disposal four seasons a year.
