Restaurants abound in the Sandhills. Whether your palate desires a European Bistro; an Italian, Greek or Thai meal; a fine steak, or good old fashion country cooking, they’re all here to waiting to be discovered. Our quaint shopping villages of Pinehurst and Southern Pines draw visitors from near and far. The small town charm of these villages and the nearby communities of Seagrove & Cameron offer pottery and antique boutiques known throughout the country. Major national malls are a short hour drive up U.S. 1 to Cary & Raleigh from Pinehurst real estate vicinities.
ARTS & THEATRE
Even though, Moore County is known for its small town charm, it is also beaming with art, culture and theater events that rival a larger city such as Raleigh. The Moore County Arts Council sponsors many cultural activities including live theater, concerts, & art exhibitions throughout the year. The Weymouth Center for Arts & Humanities, established in 1979, is a full-fledged cultural center with an established chamber music series, lecture series, writers in residence program and strong ties to many of the areas Garden Clubs.
From small town productions to Off-Broadway plays, our local theater companies entertain the Sandhills with world class performances. Area Pinehurst real estate residents enjoy an array of productions throughout the year, from local theatre groups such as Moore On-Stage, Sandhills Theatre Company, Temple Theater and The Playhouse. Located in the heart of downtown Southern Pines, the Sunrise Theatre is often home to many local productions and independent films.
AREA PARKS
Although Moore County is considered a golfer’s paradise, there are so many other outdoor activities to enjoy including bicycling, tennis, horseback riding, soccer, nature trails, parks and playgrounds. With over 12 miles of groomed trails throughout the Greenway Trail system, area residents can enjoy native foliage while walking, jogging or biking. The Weymouth Woods Nature Center is home to almost 900 acres of natural Sandhills Terrain. Throughout the year, park rangers teach classes and offer guided hikes showcasing the regions’ diverse ecosystem.
Additionally, Moore County is also a nationally recognized center for equestrian activities for riders and spectators alike. At the heart of Moore Counties “Horse Country” is the Walthour-Moss Foundation, a preserve of over 4000 acres of riding trails. Located just south of Moore County, The Carolina Horse Park is host to both international and national equestrian events as well as a resource for the equestrian community.
